While pure PTFE can withstand higher temperatures, the overall limit of a lined flexible connector is governed by the structural elastomer outer shell. Our heavy-duty units are optimized to operate continuously at temperatures up to 115°C, providing a wide safety margin for most hot, highly corrosive chemical transfer and process piping applications.
The steel flanges are designed as loose backing/rotating flanges. They spin freely around the molded rubber-and-PTFE collar before bolting. This allows for effortless, 360-degree rotation to line up bolt holes perfectly with your pipeline, preventing the flexible bellows from being twisted or torqued during setup.
This is known as a flared or turned-over face design. By extending the PTFE liner completely out of the bore and across the face of the flange, it ensures that flowing corrosive media only ever touches PTFE, never the steel backing flange. This flare also acts as a built-in, full-face gasket, eliminating the need for separate, expensive chemical gaskets.
